I am a photographer working in portrait, event, and nature photography. While nature photography is my method of connecting with myself and the natural world around me, I like to use portrait and event photography to connect with others and freeze moments in time that can be looked back on fondly not just by myself, but by others as well.
I also take pride in my use of photography as a way of producing art. Art exists to enrich our lives by expanding our horizons, teaching us things about ourselves and the world around us. I find photography to be not just a beautiful way of preserving memories, but a medium to produce feelings that we cannot experience elsewhere, as is one of the many purposes of art. I want my audience to get a feeling from my photos that they can’t quite explain, a feeling that resonates with them, or a feeling that gives a new perspective on their life. We often find ourselves faced with thoughts or problems that are difficult to confront, and we often think that we simply lack the requirements to overcome them. Sometimes, all we really need is a new perspective, and art is a great place to find it.
